I need help with a french project that is related to art?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2010 and filed under portrait painters | 3 Comments »

I am doing a french project where it has to be visual and I decided to do a painting. Does anyone know a nice picture (when I mean nice I also mean easy) that I could paint that is done by a french painter? Please tell me the name of the portrait, the painter and if possible a website/link that I could click to veiw it.

Thanks in advance
ohh yeah I would appreciate it if it was an outside scene because I do those the best or flowers or water etc.

How about Monet? He’s definitely tied to the French art history and has done quite a bit of nature and flower painting. Take your pcik here:

If you were a painter, would you paint a self portrait?

I have done that before already! But, it is far more fun to paint what is in my imagination!

I am looking for a portrait by the painter named Bombay. Can you help me find it.?

The name of the portrait is "The Crying Black Child"

I found this site, but the artist went by Matthew "Bay Bay" Williams not Bombay. I’m wondering if this could be it?

I am looking for information about a Mr Wyeth who gave theosophical lectures in London in the years 1920-1945?

Some of the lectures were held in the portrait painter fiddés watt’s house in Gloucester Road
He had quite a large following and there must be people still alive who remember him

Google it "Wyeth .. lectures … London "

How much does the average portrait painter make per canvas?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under portrait painters | 2 Comments »

what about for sketching? im pretty good at drawing, but when it comes to acrylics,
I have problems making the colors match skin texture and color, maybe I should use oils??

Depending on the size of the canvas and how good you are at painting portraits, you can charge anything between $10 to $30. If you are really good at this you can even charge $50 or more. For sketching, amateur artists charge from $1 to $10.

You can try and make a start from Ebay. Art lovers buy amateur paintings and sketches from there all the time. You can start at a low price since you are just a beginner and see how that works out for you and once you get a good following you can increase the price. Be confident about the price you set. It shouldn’t be too low or too high and do not lower the prices all of a sudden if you see that you are not getting a good response as it can seem bad. Also once you have sold a couple of paintings you can go on to making a blog or website where you can display your artwork for people to view and buy from. Hope this helps.

Where did the statement" warts and all" come from ?

Posted by admin on February 17th, 2010 and filed under portrait painters | 3 Comments »

I was watching How to be a Millionaire, and that was the question. The answer was , it was a statement used by a historical male to give a portrait painter instructions on how to paint him. Who was the historical figure

warts and all came from a person called Cromwell who was the rebelling side of the British civil war Cromwell had a lot of warts on his face which were big as well
