Do you like still life / portrait/ landscape paintings best?

I started with still life’s, and hated doing them..I was probably too young. Then went into Graphic design, Line Art for Advertising. then Portraits, pastel, always working at quick studies and life drawings. A few years ago, we had a garden and I got back into still life’s and have a much greater appreciation for all they offer, automatically, with so much to consider. The design of lights and shadows, highlights, color, negative space, just coming up with a good composition is challenging. I actually enjoy still life’s now, having a renewed appreciation.
Portraits are either excellent or disastrous (when I think too much, or try too hard-know the person too well). I love landscapes, and have done mostly these. No matter how they start, they end with a touch of surrealism, which makes them more unique and interesting….and personal.

Need help identifying some people portrait paintings or drawings?

I need the names of some paintings or drawings that was done before the year 1910 that has the FRONT VIEW face of a WOMAN. The body/shoulders can be twisted but the HEAD needs to be in FRONT VIEW. I already know about the following front view portrait painting, so are there any others you can think of? Thanks!

Sorry, if my question confused you. (it’s hard to judge without a picture). I am not trying to think of a painting that I saw and simply seeking the name of it. I am trying to find numerous artworks that has the FRONT VIEW face of a WOMAN. Copying old drawings/paintings is a great way to learn how to draw and paint. Learning how to draw and paint the face in front view is the first step. Thanks!

I bought 2 paintings by Giovanni Boldini,The Black sash and Portrait of Mrs Howard Johnson?

They look like real paintings and both are signed on the lower left corner in black paint (hard to see but can) and The Black Sash one is dated 1906 in same black painted signature.I bought them in a antique store who purchased them from a estate sale.I live in Kennett Square,PA and was told was out of a house around the area of Unionville,PA….Does anyone know of these? How to really tell if a real painting? They are in very nice frames with the paper backing so I can`t look at the actual back.
I have it backwards.The Portrait of Mrs Howard Johnson is the one dated 1906,The Black Sash is signed by last name only.No date.

from the original is by its dimensions. These
are both extremely large pieces. Both paintings
are said to be in private collections. Here is

Years ago I saw a portrait of a Elf king, clad in white with red hair but I don’t remember the artist. I am SPECIFICALLY looking for handsome/ethereal ELF kings and princes paintings/pictures. I have tried googling Elf kings, Fairy kings (you do NOT want to know what popped up,lol). Think LEGOLAS from The Lord of the Ring movies. Please post links, Thanks everyone!

old portrait paintings?

at a loss cant find any info on a few art works i think i looked everywhere (will send pics if anyone thinks they can help)……1st one says 1504 copyright 1901 by McLoughlin Bros. N.Y. SURPRISED BY MAMMA … 2nd is some type of foreign army portrait, and it had a pencil sketch hidden behind it. any help is greatly appreciated

The first place I would look, (other than Google) is the U.S. Copyright office. That should take care of your first painting.

The second is some type of military portrait with a pencil sketch hidden behind it.

A picture speaks a thousand words – rather than words sometimes pictures do miracles to understand tough things so easily and convincingly. I am looking for some such images. Do you have such pictures?

Paintings have a great ccanvas, whih convey very good great moral which will ever carry in mind by anybody sees the same and keep the memory thereof. Whereas, picticulars, images, posters, portraits etc. will not have a short span gripping in the mind. That is the difference.
