I alreADY SAID THE NPG WAS THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY, CAN NOW just say the NPG?

I’d suggest that when you first mention the National Portrait Gallery you put in brackets NPG, that way there is no confusion and you can keep using NPG

    Yes, as long as you define what NPG stands for beforehand. Example:

    The National Portrait Gallery (NPG) has the work of artists over the various decades. The NPG is funded by donations and therefore needs to generate a lot of business.

    I don’t know if any of that is true I just made it up on spot.
