Where can I take my mum in London this weekend?

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010 and filed under portrait gallery | 13 Comments »

I have lived in London for a number of years and my mum also knows London very well, so the usual touristy things i.e. dungeons, eye, portrait gallery, science museum, Tussuad’s etc. have been done many times before.

We also both dislike musicals so that would be a no-go!

I would like to do something a bit different – any ideas?

Thanks

go in strip club in Soho

Have you been on one of the boat rides down the Thames, we did one a few years back and thought it was lovely.

Have you been on the Duck Tour? I sent my mother on it (who is in her 60s) and she loved it. Sadly I had to work, so would have gone otherwise.

Have you ever eaten in the Wolseley, http://www.thewolseley.com/

Its super nice food down piccadilly road, the n a walk through green park…perhaps a little shopping, or even heading a little way out of london to richmond its about 15-20mins from waterloo and they have some lovely walks and eating places along the river as does hampsted heath. Or Look in the Time out magazine thats always full of ideas too.

    Kind regards

well what you could do is go to hyde park then walk up to the serpentine where there is a beautiful walk by the river. then from there, there are peddle boats so if your lucky and the weather is good, you could go for a boat ride in the serpentine. it really is a beautiful place and i would highly recommend it. also if you wanted you could go for another walk around pall mall and buckingham palace where the scenery is beautiful.

the ritz in london is also one of the top places to go for a dinner. you must get a reservation though and be sure to dress formally.

if you have not been to the new shopping centre Westfield, then that would be a nice day out if you are interested for shopping. the architecture there is outstanding and the building is quite something.

if you are looking to explore the heart of the west end, then a nice and enjoyable place to go to is covent garden. it is not for tourists alone however it does attract some. it is always buzzing and alive and there is a lot to do in the ‘garden’.

chinatown is also a place where you can see the cultural diversity of london where the far east meets the west. fascinating place.

queensway also is a sort of secondary china town which has many things to do such as bowling, ice skating, restaurants, as well as a shopping mall known as whiteleys which is very nice to see.

i hope all of this info will give you and your mum a nice day out in london : )

If you are over 18, try Vinopolis. Its a ‘museum’ of wine, which allows you to learn and taste about all the wines of the world, some spirits also. There is also a restaurant attached, so you can make an evening of it too.
