As in scenery, a portrait of someone, animals, seascape, etc?
And what type of paintings do people tend to spend more money on???
unless you are an art collector most middle of the road art is portraiture or landscape but with a mood or atmosphere, abstract is also popular for the more progressive types who want to impress their friends at dinner parties, mainly the work has to be simple and easy to look at, the interlectually challenging works are the preserve of gallery collections

People are more likely to buy landscapes, seascapes, or domestic animals (cats and dogs).
The landscapes and seascapes if they are for sale in a vacation destination, so it’s important for the painting to be at the appropriate location. For example, a tropical seascape would be more likely to sell in Hawaii than in Cape Cod or the Grand Canyon.

Everyone has different taste’s so that is almost impossible to answer. But if I had to guess at it I would say a painting of a well know artist like Picasso, Mondrian,Dali etc. They gain in monetary value over the years. The longer you have them , the more they are worth.

Varies greatly, but I would say landscapes. Think about homes, vacation houses, hotels on the beach; they always have nice landscape scenery drawings or paintings.
