Portrait photography in sunny weather using flash – Week 55

Sunny weather is great, unless you want to take portrait photos. Bright light often means harsh shadows on your subject. In this video digital expert Gavin Hoey http://www.gavtrain.com will look at using on and off camera flash to control the light and get some great results.

    and even with CLS, you would still want to manually control the power to your liking (or +/- EV at least)
    On the other hand, i do hope i got CLS sometime so i dont have to take the light i clamped on the ceiling just to adjust power. But that might be the reason for me to get excise

    Thanks for your insight, but I own Canon gear, not Nikon. Yes, the CLS system beats Canons hands down, but I’m not about to dump all my Canon gear just for CLS.

    Remember, it’s not about the gear you have, it’s all about the end result.

    Had you used a Nikon DSLR with CLS with in built wireless and TTL you wouldn’t have to go through all that manual setup. Nikon DSLR’s CLS system is light years ahead of what canon can offer.

    Do you know how they achieve this effect? The legend says that they used “high pass” filter on photoshop, but you never get the same result while trying.
