I’m trying to fiddle around with Photoshop a bit, and I’d like to know some of your tips and tricks and favorite effects for making nice portraits. What are your go-to techniques?

> Duplicate the "Photo" layer.
> Keep the original layer in the back and the copy in the front
> Change the blending mode for the "Copy layer" to screen http://dznr.org/qwjg
> And now go the Filters
>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the blur intensity you’d like to have Tadaa !!

I do a curves layer selecting the darkes areas and enhancing them. To create the soft look you can do a gaussian blur or easier just get a plug in program that does it for you!
