Most of the time everyone throws on all their lights @ once which leaves room for the unknown.

Even the best studio lights can struggle to capture sharp results on moving subjects. It’s got nothing to do with shutter speed and everything to do with flash duration.

Video showing / demonstrating how to take a nice portrait photo using flash indoors (studio).
Photos taken with the nikon D300, nikon 50mm f1.4 and with the nikon cls sb900 flash and also the sb800.
Video goes through normal non flash photo to umbrella flash and then simple high key looking images.

Here is a video to give some ideas tips and suggestions of the more creative looks you can give your portrait photos. Some of my terminology may not be totally correct, and i may get in trouble from other photographers for giving away all these creative secrets! But hey! I am all about giving. flashes were the nikon sb900 (around £350) and sb800 (around £290)
Flash stands cost around £40, the heads cost about an extra £30 and the umbrella about £30 as well.
